The Joomla Revolution is Nearly Here
Many of you have been waiting with great anticipation for the release of Joomla 1.5, the next step in the evolution of Joomla as the world's leading Open Source Content Management System. First announced in April, 2006, Joomla 1.5 is almost here!
Last week Joomla.org announced the release of Beta 1.5-2, the next-to-last step on the road to a fully stable release candidate.
With over a year's worth of collaboration, beta releases, and testing
under their belts, the development team announced they are moving
Joomla "into turbo mode; an entirely re-factored core,
internationalisation, FTP layering, next-generation API and framework
that's so flexible and powerful and, of course, a designer's dream for
unparalleled templating flexibility."
While many of the changes will be hard to see for the end user, the new Joomla 1.5 will spark a whole new generation of awesome extensions, gorgeous templates, and useful tools to build your Joomla website.
Like
many of you, Joomlashack is eagerly anticipating the candidate release
later this year. For now, we're busy adjusting our templates and
creating new ones, exploring the best 3rd party extensions, and writing
helpful guides and tutorials to help you make the most of this
significantly improved version of Joomla.
Want to help get Joomla 1.5 ready for release? Download it, play with it, build a site on it, develop an extension for it. Make sure to report your bugs to the project promptly, and offer your feedback. Together, the Joomla community can take 1.5 a revolutionary step.
