I'm setting up the component and in testing mode - me using my own email addresses - subscribed one visitor, registered another visitor - activated both accounts through the automated email... my website even displayed confirmations.

BUT - I do not see either of these 'new users'  on the icontact list I specified.

Is there normally a delay at icontact perhaps? Are the subscribers in limbo somewhere?

thanks in advance

OK - I'm not the first one this has happend to - is there any documentation on what might be adjusted at the server to get the contact lists to display thru the ajax pull down feature?

so it looks like a DOM error - is there any chance Barrie that J!Contact would become a paid for extension - it would save a lot of frustration and increase your revenue - perhaps more people would be using it also if it was reliable...

Bottom line - is there an event solution on the time horizon - are you working on this? should we wait?

Thanks again for all you're already doing...

This is where I started...

  • From the main admin panel of the J!Contact component - field JContact registration list: I select 'choose' a mail list then a popup displays this error...

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '=', expecting ')' in /home/william5/public_html/yoga/components/com_jcontact/includes/domxml-php4-to-php5.php on line 43

then I adjusted my PHP setting at the host from php4 to php5 and now I get this

  • see pull down 'select category' unpopulated with button with 'choose' but no data populating it;

at the same time I have 5 lists at icontact setup... do I need to setup lists elsewhere?

Thanks in advance

I get this too. I don't get any indication of an error. Just nothing.

I just downloaded JContact today an installed it on 3 sites (although all on the same hosting company/server), and all 3 sites worked great against the one iContact account that was still in Trial mode.

There is a bit of a delay...it seems that iContact doesn't add the new member to any list, even the "not in any list" list until after the activation email is clicked.

Best,
Ken

Thanks, Barrie!

I'm having the same issues as randalji and Nick (above).

**solved: When you make a new Menu item with the first "JContact" link, "Standard Content Layout", the Parameters (Basic) must be set to "Drop Down: Show" in order to see the JContact Registration List in the JContact Component in the Main Settings (when you click chose).

HOWEVER, I am still not getting contacts added to the list

AND, when the registration page is filled out, it goes to a page with a 403 error, access forbidden.

Did you guys who posted before get any further on this? Can you shed some light?

Thanks very much,
Pamela

Hey there,

I'm having the same issue. Things are working okay -- users do get added into icontact after the registration link is clicked, HOWEVER clicking the registration link results in a 403 error. "403 - Access Forbidden!"

I realized that IF you log in on the website FIRST, this error doesn't occur, and instead the activation links directs the user to the homepage.

Obviously this not an acceptable solution as many users will naturally not be logged in.

I haven't found a fix but will continue looking.

Thanks for the great extension. I do find it a bit frustrating that you are earning commission from icontact off the people that sign up with a buggy extension. I would gladly pay for a commercial (supported) version of the product! No disrespect intended, but some direction would be a pleasant surprise.

Unfortunately, its not the extension so much as the API from icontact.

They have told us its beta, and unsupported. They have even turned it off a couple of times without telling anyone!

The good news is that they have a version 2 of their API coming out soon that we will upgrade JContact to, and as before, our coding development will be given away for free Wink

I don't have a timeline, you'll have to ask icontact....

Hello,

I just downloaded the latest version of JContact component and it is using API 2 of iContact. Unfortunately, I am still getting the 403 error when you click on the activation link in the email the new subscriber receives. Is there anyway to fix this?

If you are logged into the Joomla site and click the JContact Register link, the register form is shown rather than a Logout button. You don't want someone that is logged in to try and register again. Is there somewhere in the code that this could be modified?

After you register, the registration form is still showing with a message that you have been registered and can now login, is it possible to change this so the login form shows rather than redisplaying the registration form?

Is there a login module for JContact? Or do you just use mod_login or in our case mod_vm_login (as we have VirtueMart installed)?

Thank you for any help.

I had the same issue. Forgot I had disabled the user registration option in my Global Configuration.  Undecided

Site >> Global Configuration >> System >> Look under user settings.

I've got the page working now, but the jury's still out on whether or not the data made its way to the iContact system.

Hope this helps!
