Hi, my name is Ghenadie (Gheno for friends). I'm originally from Moldova (eastern Europe), now in Sacramento, CA.
I recently graduated from University of Phoenix, BSIT and I love IT in general.
Not a long ago I started to be a freelancer doing website and I'm thinking to expand. It's kind of fun and convenient working from home.
So far, I've did some static website, and one social in elgg. Didn't have really time to do and learn more about dynamic features. That's why I found joomla a great way to do some complex dynamic sites without reinventing the wheel.
I don't finding difficult to learn, but still it takes time to practice. Many things could find myself at first, but still it's too much time to spend on my own to figure it out, that's why I think jUniversity must be a big help saving me time and discover some addotional great features of joomla while I will can concentrate on other development tools.

Best Regards,
Ghenadie!

Hi all!
I am Gail from Central Kansas.  I work as a librarian/consultant and am in the process of switching our old static html/tables based website over to Joomla and then on to helping other libraries learn to do the same.
I've learned from books and tutorials - thanks, Barrie!
And here, I really hope to hone my fledgling skills and find answers to a few wee problems I have encountered.

Hi,
My Name is Mitch. My wife Keri purchased this for me and although she put my name in the shipping info, they created the accoutn in her name?
In any event. I have had 3 joomla sites in the past year and I am a hostage to designers because I don't know how to make simple changes or any changes, I am tired of this and of working with irresponsible people who don't do what they promise.
On the flip side, I get huge traffic at my site so if anyone wants to exchange SEO help for tech help, I am more than willing o help you out in that respect.

Hi Everyone

I'm Alex from Australia. I've been using Joomla for a couple of years now but I think there are lots of things yet to be discovered and I'm thrilled to have a forum to post my questions to!

Hello all,
My name is Greg Blakeney, but I go by gerg. Long story, but it is a nick name that stuck years ago. I have been dabbling in Joomla for a year or so but never really took it to the next level until I joined the Joomlashack template / developers club. I have a couple of decent sites up for friend's businesses as well as a couple for myself. I look forward to sharpening my skills here to save time, and learn some of the pro's tips as well. I live in Las Vegas and have an absolute infatuation with classic VWs. I am in Telecom sales for one of the few companies still growing in this economy. Looking forward to learning!

Thanks,

Hello from New Hampshire,

I had a real hard time letting go of static pages and wrapping my head around Joomla concepts, but I got a site up and running for our school district's professional development center. I love our new event registration extension and am slowly adding new features to our site. Now we are looking at Joomla as a possible solution for our schools. Although I "get" the basics, I'm interested following a more structured approach rather than forging ahead blindly. I'm really interested in customizing templates. I managed to make some basic changes to JA_Purity for our site (colors, header, etc), but want to know what really makes a template tick!

I participate loosely in a Joomla user group and find the support very helpful. I also enjoyed Joomla Day New England in Brattleboro, VT this past spring. It was all new to me then so I'm really looking forward to the next event!

Hi from Las Vegas,

We're in process of a site redesign here at our auction house.  I wrote the original site in PHP but wanted to standardize updates and make the site more accessible to our crew.  Joomla was the natural selection.  So here I am learning how to use Joomla!

Hi. I'm Jeanie in Jax, FL. Glad to meet y'all. Looks like a nice international group. I took a quick Joomla online class and liked it but didn't learn nearly enough. Want to know how to use all the bells and whistles.

Hi Everyone,

I'm Dixie from Atlanta, GA. I have been working in IT since the punch card days...and I love learning new stuff. I have a website/software development company and am interested in learning Joomla so that I can create the kind of sites my customers are requesting without having to learn everything about all of new technology to stitch together the sites that they need.

Good day everyone.

My name is Wendy and I live in Bermuda.  I am new to Joomla and know enough to be dangerous but not enough to get out of trouble! I have a couple nonprofit websites I would like to overhaul with Joomla and with various extentions.  Hopefully this course will help me get some traction quickly and give me an opportunity to see some advanced functionality that will help me take our organizations to a next level.  I am also new to website design and HTML so I expect I will have some fun with this!!

tks! ww

Hi
I'm Richard Walsh. I am part of a small software house based on the east coast of Scotland. Most of the work we have done in the past is bespoke database development for back office systems. We have just completed our first joomla-based website and have recently joined the "Joomlashack University". I have already leaned a lot and greatly appreciate being pointed in the direction of useful tools which would be pretty hard to find otherwise. I'm looking forward to future material and to sharing information and knowledge with other course members. Thanks. Richard

I'm challenged by Joomla. I learned html before dreamweaver existed. I often get frustrated with Joomla because I know I can make "xyz" (meaning whatever) happen in html, so why can't I make "xyz" work in Joomla? Hence, I signed up for the University.

Hey I'm Micke Bergman from Sweden. I have been designing web pages since the good old nineties and working from notepad to Dreamweaver WYSIWYG editor. Until august 2009 I have never been in touch with joomla but I have been working with another CMS tool as a publisher, not admin. Now since I found joomla I am slowly migrating all my sites to joomla and I joined the univeristy last week after buying Barrie's excellent book Joomla! 1.5 A users guide... Now I want to learn the whole thing.. i think I am a intermediate user, but that will soon be prooved I guess  Wink Looking forward to learn from your lessons and this forum as using the joomla forum and explore everything yourself can be time demanding and frustrating...

Hope to learn much.
