The young lady who is the subject of this website, http://www.aidasopa.eu, loves the sifstrain template and would like to keep it.  Unfortunately, the header appears black for her and others.  The header appears perfectly for me in both IE7 and Firefox, but on my computer at the airport running IE6, it appears black.  I opened a topic http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,117661.0.html where Steve pointed out a variety of validation errors http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=www.aidasopa.eu&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline

  • Will any of these errors cause a black header in some some browsers?
  • Could it be that IE7, Firefox and Opera are ignoring these errors?
  • Which of the errors should be corrected to eliminate the black header in older browsers?

I made no changes to this template other than to add some design elements to js_top.png.  The new image has the same properties and name as the original image.

Thanks for your help.

Rob

BTW - We did not select this template because it was free, it was selected for its design.

I was able to overcome this problem by converting js_top.png into js_top.jpg.  All in all, I'd still like to correct the validation errors if anyone would like to comment/help.

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,

As far as I can tell you have removed the following line from the template:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

Without this line the browser - and the validator - don't know what flavour of (x)html you are dishing up.
I supect that if you put that line back in you should be much closer to having a valid site.

I'm a little late in responding, but want to thank Dean for his reply.  I did not remove that line from the template, and I have no idea how it came up missing.  As it turned out, we went with a different template.  Thanks again for your assistance.
