Setting up the Intellicontact API
«

Once you
have an account
, you need to go to this page and register J!Contact (formerly IntelliJoomla)
http://www.intellicontact.com/icp/core/registerapp
In the config page, it's the name of the list that you need to use for "IntelliContact registration list:"

OK. Using the Intellijoomla.zip that Barrie posted around 1/1/07, which I think he is calling 0.4...
I installed the component (3 files, html, php, and xml), and set it as follows in the Admin-Components-Intellijoomla
Add newly registered users to IntelliContact list? Yes - I assume that means whether Joomla or Community Builder?
Registration List- The number from the URL when I am viewing the list in IntelliContact - Is that what the List ID is?
IntelliContact username: Same as Intellicontact Login
IntelliContact password: Same as Intellicontact Login
API Key : 16DxR322FgxcjB9DO7fTtwlEIY4yvUgm
I registered the API Key with
http://app1.intellicontact.com/icp/core/externallogin
and created a password, and put that in the Shared Secret field.
BUT, when I add a new user through mod_cblogin 1.02, nothing happens on the IntelliContact site, and there are no error messages on the screen or in email. I do get the new user Registration email from CB.
I later synched the CB and Joomla user databases, which added 2 users from CB to Joomla, but that didn't trip the addition to the IC list either.
Is it possible that IC doesn't allow Trial users to use the API? They DID let me register the key, so that makes no sense.
Let me suggest that there should be a Test button on the Admin Panel, like when setting up email server settings in a mail client or CRM system.
I also tried disabling the CB Login, enabling the Joomla Login, and creating and activating an account that way. Still no users have been added to IntelliContact, even after synching the new user to Community Builder.
I'd like to get this working. Any helpful advice is appreciated...
K
P.S. I do also have domxml installed on my web server- from phpinfo():
domxml
DOM/XML enabled
DOM/XML API Version 20020815
libxml Version 20622
HTML Support enabled
XPath Support enabled
XPointer Support enabled
DOM/XSLT enabled
libxslt Version 1.1.16
libxslt compiled against libxml Version 2.6.22
DOM/EXSLT enabled
libexslt Version 1.1.16

Ok Guys,
I've spent the whole day trying to get this to work and so far no luck. I don't remember reading the whole bleeding edge, beta discussion on the download now page. Anyways, it is, what it is.
I tried all the tidbits I've found in the forum and still no success. Here is the iContact API how-to page I found through Google. The instructions seem to vary from what you've offered here.
http://app.intellicontact.com/icp/pub/api/doc/api.html
It sounds like you need to give the community (US) your iContact API key so that we can we can register under your application. Quote" To help keep our users' data secure, iContact requires them to opt-in to using an API Application. In others words, each iContact account holder that wishes to use your application must first register it with their account... The account holder should enter
your API Key
along with a password of his or her choosing.
Can you clarify?
I've had to uninstall, because it actually buggers up my CB registration process. I think figuring out the API is the key to getting this to go.

Unfortunately, we are dealing with 2 betas here, the joomla component and the IContact API.
The CB hooks seem to be buggy. We are working on tracking down the cause.

Hey Barrie! Are you making any progress on this? I just recommended iContact to a client based on existence of your component. Hope it's close to resolved.
Thanks,
Ken

Hi there,
Has this issue now been solved? I'm keen to start using this component.
Also, is there a way to simplify setting up the API? It's very confusing.
Thanks.

I'm just following up as I'm a icontact user.
does the integration to joomla work yet? I installed the 0.4 component and it doesn't seem to do anything...

The JoomlaShack admin manual that I bought raves about Intellicontact and offers J!Contact as a solution, without qualification. But in perusing the threads here, I get the impression that no one has yet gotten it to work. Is that because only the failures are posted? Are there any success stories out there? It sounds like a great idea, but not if it is an unfinished concept.

Unfortunately, we are treading water a bit with 1.5.
We want to make a better release, for 1.0 and 1.5 at the same time. But 1.5 isn't out stable yet, so we have to wait a bit more :/
Thanks for your patience.

Barrie,
Thanks for your reply. But I'm not sure I'm understanding you correctly. Are you saying the 1.0 release is in a holding pattern, waiting behind the 1.5 release? And you are wating on something external in order to finish the 1.5 release?
I'm using 1.0. Can I talk you into reversing your priority, so that you finish the 1.0 release first? I'd be glad to give it a try on my site:
http://www.catalog-on-demand.com/joomla
. As you can see, my contact form is a re-purposed bug reporting form, which is not exactly satisfactory. The idea of integrating Intellicontact is appealing. Thankis!

Any further news on an API with iContact? I'd like to tie this in, or chuck iContact altogether and go with a better solution, if anyone has one.

Ok, Joomla 1.5 stable has come. I'm ready to move on unless J!Contact is ready for 1.5. Can you please update the status?

Hi Barrie,
I haven't yet migrated to J! 1.5, still using 1.0.15.
I have 2 questions:
1) Is this the most recent version of the J!Contact Component?
http://www.joomlashack.com/community/index.php/topic,3392.0.html
If not, where can I find the latest version for J! 1.0.15?
2) Did the most recent version of J!Contact ever end up working with Joomla 1.0.x and Community Builder?
Thanks

You can find out more about the new version of J!Contact here:
http://www.joomlashack.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=280&Itemid=4
Its 1.5 only, and currently does not work with CB....

We're are not planning to upgrade to 1.5 in the near future. Is there any way to get a copy of the old component for 1.0?
