I have installed the Shack Pack for Schools, everything is working just fine, however when I open menu/mainmenu I get a blank screen. I can select any other menu and see the heirarchy but mainmenu is a blank screen. When I look in Modules Extended Menu is there and published. Any ideas?

I am having the exact same problem.  So far I havn't seem to find a fix for this except to just use a different template, which kind of sucks, because if this is the case, I just burned a $97 P.O.  Here is where I am posting to this problem.

Hopefully the smart people will figure it out. Wink

Thanks for the reply!  We currently took it down for a moment to put up a generic joomla install so that we could have a site to demo to the school on Monday.  I would still love to get this figured out though so that we can use the shackpack template.  It looks really good!  I'll get it put back on our server tomorrow and give you the heads up as soon as I do!
Thanks a bunch,

We have traced some issues to possible server settings:

in pnp.ini change (increase) your memory setting. Try 16MB....

I have this too.  This is a fresh install on MAMP Pro on a Mac Server.  I set my memory to 32MB and mainmenu is still blank for me.  Anyone else with this?  Why is the menu so full out of the box so it does not work?

Ok, so I went into PHPmyadmin and manually pruned some entries from the jos_menu table and still no go.  Are we sure this is a memory issue?

Here is the entry in the log when I try to load the mainmenu.

[05-Oct-2007 23:58:36] PHP Fatal error:  Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 180 bytes) in /Volumes/DataRaid/Users/michelle/Sites/joomla/includes/domit/xml_domit_lite_parser.php on line 913

I did figure this out.  It was a memory error.  Moving the memory to 16M in the php.ini configuration file did it.

I still cannot see the mainmenu items in menu manager in the backend, even afterupping the php.ini memory limits to 16M or 32M (joomla 1.013). Any other things to try? I'm develping locally on MacOSX using MAMP so it's hard to send you a link.

If you installed over an existing Joomla install, your new install may not have written all the files to all the appropriate directories.  Compare the files in the .zip file to the files in the installed directory.  Also, Check to be sure that you had
proper permissions on each of the directories. Then be sure you have the extended menu Component installed with proper permissions on the directories it requires.  If you have the Joomla Explore component, it is really handy to see what is installed where, with what rights and it lists the config. file to be sure everything is configured correctly.  I installed the SchoolPack on Friday.  It is working beautifully, with a few little probelm areas.
