KUDOS GO OUT TO THE JOOMLASHACK GURUS. 

I have been waiting for a package like this.  What a great idea.

I do have one question regarding duplicating a site. 

Once I customize my school shack pack (change content / menus and text) and get things exactly like I want them.... What is the best way to duplicate this same info again for another school?

Related question:

I have not looked at the licensing details of the ShackPack yet, but am likely to purchase it.  If my church wants to use it for their main church page as well (after we get their separate Christian School site set up, which is first priority), do we need to purchase another copy of the ShackPack to be legitimate?

Hi Mark,

That's correct, all of our products are single domain license. When we put the price up from its introductory one we will probably add a domain license similar to our templates...

Thanks Waseem.

Is setting up local testing the easiest way to accomplish the following:

I want to setup a Joomla site exactly like I want it (like the school shack pack) and then use this as a starting point for other projects. 

What is the simplest way to clone a site multiple times so I do not have to resetup the menus and re enter text?

Good question, Chris.

I find it much easier to just crank out a test copy of Joomla using cPanel/Fantastico on my hosting company in about 30 seconds.  Each component is usually a few seconds to install.  Anyway, the usual zipping/unzipping and copying databases seems much easier to me than managing more stuff on my PC.

I tried a *AMPP, and the install failed.  But the MySQL install did work, so I am somewhere in the middle.

Please report back your findings...

@Chris Here at the Shack we tend to use local host to prepare stuff and then move it live. Its a little bit of fiddling, but the work is faster working locally.

CAVEAT: The Shack Pack is a single domain license, you'll have to purchase multiple copies for multiple sites/installations. If you make derivative works, then that's ok. We'll leave it up to you to professionally judge what is derivative Smiley

@Ken We dont advise fantastico, especially for the Shackpack. The files that fantastico builds are essentially similar (but generic) to our school shackpack.

Ooops, yeah, I was unclear.  You have been quite clear that the Shack Pack is a complete installable module.

As such, it's kind of its own "backup" if you wanna look at it that way, so I am thinking that even if I screw it up, I can re-install it, so I am not gonna worry so much about running locally and transferring content later.  That would be harder for me, now, I think.

I just meant that if I wanna try out a new component, or maybe handful of components, I just use the Fantastico routine...
just because I am not as swift as you guys on running locally...some day...then I'll change my tune, probably.

What is your definition of a single domain?  In particular, do you consider a subdomain (www.subdomain.maindomain.xyz) to be a separate domain that would require another license?

We like to be flexible on this, if it looks to us like a different site with different content, then its a 2nd license. If you are just on a subdomain, a dev server or have 2 domains pointing to the same site, thats just one license.

OK, thanks Barrie.  My situation would be a main church website with a subdomain that is for a Christian school run by the church.  It would be obvious that they are related sites with links and all, but would really each be a separate site with different content.
