Introduction to Web Assets in Joomla 4

Introduction to Web Assets in Joomla 4

One of my favorite improvements in Joomla 4 is the "Web assets" feature. It allows you to load a set of JavaScript and CSS files in a specific order with a single call.

Let's say you want to load CSS or JavaScript files that depend on other files. For example, you may want to load a JavaScript file that depends on jQuery being loaded first.

In this short tutorial, I will show you how the "Web assets" feature of Joomla 4 works.

How to Customize Joomla Warning Messages

How to Customize Joomla Warnings Messages

One of the customer questions we received this week was about Joomla warning messages.

These messages are often displayed on the front of your site. For example, you'll see a warning if you enter an incorrect username or password during login. You may also see these messages in the Joomla admin.

In this guide, we'll show you multiple ways to customize these messages:

  • How to change the text of the message of the warning
  • How to use your own text instead of "Warning"
  • How to add an image to the warning box
  • How to change the background color of the warning box

Let's take a look at how to make these changes. Before we start, it's worth noting that we're covering messages from Joomla in this tutorial. Check out this guide for PHP messages.

Beginner Guide to a Multi-lingual Joomla Installation

If you would like your Joomla site to communicate in multiple languages, you need a multi-lingual Joomla site. In this tutorial, you will learn how to install a multi-lingual Joomla site with dummy content and localized menus.

Once you finish the installation, you will then be able to replace the dummy content for every language with your own.

The Joomla School of Hospitable Technology

The Joomla School of Hospitable Technology

We held the Joomlashack Conference over 3 days in mid-November.

This was a free conference featuring over 20 of the best speakers from around the Joomla world.

I was amazed at how good the presentations were. We posted all of them to the Joomlashack YouTube channel.

This presentation was from Joe LeBlanc. This was the final, the closing session of the event and I don't think we could've picked a more appropriate closing session. Joe is one of my oldest friends in the Joomla community. He wrote many of the first and most useful Joomla extensions tutorials. He certainly wrote the first Joomla development book. We still have some useful tutorials over here at Joomlashack that he wrote over a decade ago.

Joe used Joomla as the jumping off point for a full-stack web developer career. His career has taken him to Ruby-on-Rails, deep into JavaScript and all sorts of other coding skills, working for big e-commerce companies. Joe's topic today is on how you can do the same: how you can get skills you use in the Joomla environment and build a wide-ranging and successful web development career.
