We feel we are pretty knowledgeable here at Joomlashack about SEO, heck, we even wrote a book or two about it. We also know a good deal when we see one.

Last year Steve Burge of www.alledia.com came up with a new club concept, the Joomla SEO club. He had already written a great ebook about SEO, and then he bundled it together with online access and a forum to create Joomla's first non-template club!

The moment we've all been waiting for has arrived and has passed us by and vaulted into the future. Some plot line from the Matrix? No- the rapid development and improvement of Joomla 1.5.

Back in late January the Joomla Project released a stable version of Joomla 1.5, an event long awaited and eagerly anticipated in the Joomlaverse. After nearly 18 months in development, several betas and four Release Candidates, Joomla 1.5 arrived, ready and stable. The pent-up excitement overwhelmed the Joomla 1.5 download site for a time, with thousands trying to get their hands on the stable release all at once.

All of us here at Joomlashack were so excited that we all jumped right into playing with the new version, and forgot to take a break from the fun and blog about it. Good thing, too- because within just a couple weeks, Joomla 1.5.1 hit the scene unexpectedly. A small but important security vulnerability surfaced in 1.5.0 very quickly, thanks in part to the incredible number of downloads and new users that put the stable release to the test and ferreted out the bug in record time.

So- if you haven't yet joined the throngs to try out Joomla 1.5.1, now you can! Be sure to check out all of our 1.5-ready templates too.

Want to learn more about how to build professional websites with Joomla? Then check out Joomlashack University, the #1 Joomla online training program in the world.

One question we get quite a bit in the Community Forum is "how do I remove or change the 'Welcome to the Frontpage' message in Joomla 1.5".

For those of you using the Aqualine Noir template and enjoying the new Joomla! 1.5, you'll be pleased to know we have just updated this great template to run natively with Joomla! 1.5.

We've also done a lot of the hard work for you by adding a 1.5 Quicklauncher package for quick and easy setup.

If you've already purchased, just login and re-download the package.

In December we asked our Joomlashack community to vote for one of our five finalists in our annual Joomlashack Charity Contest, with the winner receiving a $1,000 USD cash prize. With only 10 days of voting, and during the major holiday season for many of our customers, we are impressed by both the impressive vote totals and comments posted by the voters.

It seems our winner, the MISS Foundation, did some effective outreach to involve their own members in voting. Their organizing paid off, as they ran away with the contest, taking over 58% of the vote!

The MISS Foundation certainly deserved the prize we sent them on December 31st, but we still would like everyone to check out the four other finalists, each an organization very worthy of your attention, support, and donations.

While the contest and 2007 are over, nothing's stopping you from checking them out now and giving your own charitable contribution. The children and communities these charities support still need your help, regardless of what year it is.

Thanks again to everyone who nominated, commented, voted, or promoted our 2007 charity contest. If you have an comments or suggestions for how we can make this effort even more effective next year, please let us know!

Happy New Year!
