New releases for OSYouTube, OSVimeo and OSDownloads

One week after our launch and we're already rolling out improvements to several of our extensions.

This week three of our free extensions had updates with bug fixes and a new, improved, installer:

  • OSYouTube, version 3.0.3
  • OSVimeo, version 1.1.2
  • OSDownloads, version 1.1.5

We also released two Pro versions with the same bug fixes and an easier way to enter your license key immediately after the installation:

  • OSYouTube Pro, version 3.0.2
  • OSVimeo Pro, version 1.1.2

All of these updated are available with one-click in your Joomla admin area.

Extra Plugins

You'll probably notice several extra plugins are installed when our extensions. Here's what they do and why they're needed:

  • Alledia Framework: This library contains code that we use to create and support all our extensions. Installing it just once saves you needing to have lots of duplicated code on your site.
  • OSSystem: This a system plugin which is used to support our extensions. For now it is being used only to fix the Joomla's outdated Root Certificate Authority file, allowing users to do updates and installs securely, using SSL. The problem file is here: /libraries/joomla/http/transport/cacert.pem. We don't replace the file, we check all the certificate authorities registered there and fix any that are missed.

If you have a Pro version installed, you'll also need one more plugin:

  • OSMyLicensesManager: this is where you can enter your license key to get extension updates. Pro extensions will works fine without this extension and without a valid license key, but you won't be able to receive updates.

Finally, it's worth noting that everytime you install or update one of our extensions, our systems will check to make sure that the latest versions of all these plugins are installed. If your plugins are out-of-date, then we'll update them for you automatically.

Hopefully all these improvements will make for a simpler experience for you.
