What license is used for Joomlashack extensions and templates?

We release all our extensions and templates under the GPL license.


Do I need to buy a subscription for my web design customers?

Yes, do ask that you buy a license for web design customers. Joomlashack license keys provide support and updates for your sites. If you're building sites for clients, they should have their own license.


Can I modify the extension and template code?

Yes, we don't encrypt any code. However, we don't provide support for custom code, so you are welcome to customize the code, but we can't support your changes.


Does Joomlashack use recurring subscriptions?

Yes, we do. We have found that this is crucial in order to make sure Joomlashack software gets regular bug-fixes, security updates, and new features. We sell 100% risk-free recurring subscriptions: if the subscription renews, and you did not want it to, we will give you a refund. 


Why does Joomlashack use recurring subscriptions?

You can buy the extension or template and immediately cancel your subscription. However, we encourage you to remain a subscriber because these extensions and templates require continuous ongoing development. Our team needs to update the code for every new Joomla version, even the minor ones. We are also constantly updating them to work with other Joomla extensions, to fix bugs, and to meet the needs of third-party services such as Google and Mailchimp. What happens if I don't renew my subscription?

After your subscription expires, we strongly recommend that you remove all extensions and templates from your sites. You will lose access to our support team. Also, you will not receive any more updates. This is particularly important because these updates contain security patches, as well as bug fixes and new features.


Are there limits to support?

We aim to provide a helpful answer every question we receive. However are some limits to Joomlashack support:

  • We focus on answering questions about Joomlashack products. We are not the people to ask for general Joomla questions or help on other products.
  • Our products sell for $4 to $5 per month. In order to keep prices that low, we reserve the right to limit answers to customers who use support too frequently.
  • We try to help with customization of our products but we reserve the right to limit support for non-core changes.
  • We are always polite to customers. We reserve the right to limit answers to customers who are not polite.
  • Support is only available by email and support ticket.

Can I get a refund?

If you have problems getting extensions or templates to work, we will be happy to provide a full refund within 14 days of the original purchase. After 14 days, no refunds will be given. Before a refund will be granted, you must allow us to try and help solve any problem you have by opening a support ticket.

We also offer refunds for subscription renewals. If you had intended to stop your subscription and forgot, contact us within 7 days of the renewal.


Why can't I use PayPal to pay, even if I have funds on my account?

PayPal doesn’t allow recurring payments unless you have credit cards or bank accounts linked to it, and they need to have enough funds as well. That’s the reason why purchases often don’t go as intended: doesn’t matter if you have thousands of dollars in your PayPal account, if you don’t have a credit card linked to it, then you can’t pay for a subscription service.
