OSDownloads is the easiest way to add downloads to Joomla.
We're really happy to announce a complete overhaul of the extension and the release of OSDownloads Pro.
OSDownloads Pro allows you to ask users to enter an email address or to share your site on Twitter or Facebook before downloading files. You can also add start and finish publishing dates for your files.
Beyond the social sharing, we've also improved the user interface, added features and cleaned up the code.
Here's what's new in OSDownloads:
Easy Downloads for Joomla
With OSDownloads, we focused on making it as easy as possible to add downloads.
It really is as simple as this:
- Go to Components > OSDownloads > Click New
- Give the document a name.
- Click "Upload File".
- Click Save.
That's it. We've automatically filled in everything else for you. You tweak the settings later, but creating your documents is a simple, 4-step process.
Social Sharing and Emails
OSDownloads Pro now has an email gateway and social sharing built in.
You can require people to enter their email address before downloading.
You can also require people to send a tweet or like your page on Facebook before they download.
After clicking to download the file, your users will see a screen like this:
If you choose to require an email address, those emails will be recorded inside OSDownloads. You can also connect them automatically to MailChimp:

Each document comes with the ability to add links.
We originally developed OSDownloads to provide downloads for own extensions here at OSTraining.com. In a future version of OSDownloads Pro, we're planning to make these fields more cutomizable.
