How Shack Forms Integrates with Zoo

How Shack Forms Intergrates with Zoo

We blogged this week on how Shack Forms can help your Joomla 3-rd party extensions. In this post, you learned how to use Shack Forms as a communication tool for your Community Builder community. In this blog post, you also learned how to use Shack Forms to send messages to owners of entries of a SobiPro directory.

Shack Forms also integrates with Zoo, a popular Joomla extension for building catalogs. With this integration, your site visitors will be able to contact an author of an item of a catalog created via Zoo. In this blog post, I will show you how Shack Forms integrates with Zoo.

For my demonstration, I installed the Free version of Zoo and created a Zoo item. Here is how the page with my Zoo item and a toogler of my Shack Form look like at my Joomla site frontend:

When I click on the "Contact Author" toggler, open up the form and send a message, the author of my test Zoo item receives this message.

Here is how you would approach such integration.

You would open your Shack Forms module in your Joomla site administrator panel. You would like to be in the "Integration" tab:

shackforms integration tab

Under that tab, you are looking for the "Zoo" section:

the zoo section

As you may see on the screenshot, it has only one parameter: "Send email to author". You have two options to enable Shack Forms to send emails to an author of a Zoo item:

the two options

If you set it to the "Yes" option, the author of a Zoo article will receive the message sent via your Shack Form. The toggler of you Shack Form will be displayed on the Zoo item's page and on the pages you set under the "Assignment" tab of the form's module.

If you set it to the "Load module only in item view", the item author will still be receiving messages sent via your Shack Form. But the toggler of your Shack Form itself will be displayed only on the pages of your Zoo items.
