Where did the Trash Manager go in Joomla 2.5?

Back in the days of Joomla 1.5, there was a separate Article Trash for articles:

and a separate Menu Trash for menu links:

When you clicked on those links you'd see unique areas simply for your trashed items:

What has changed in Joomla 1.6 and 1.7?

Those separate Trash Managers have now disappeared. Trash no longer has it's own unique areas.

In Joomla 1.6 and 1.7, Trash is now a filter. Here's an example of how it works:

Go to Content > Article Manager and click on the "- Select Status -" filter at the top of the articles:

Select "Trashed" as in the image below:

You'll now see all of your trashed articles

How to manage trashed articles

You can manage your trashed articles in two ways. They are both shown in the image above.

  1. You can publish your articles again.
  2. You can empty the trash and permanently delete all trashed articles.
