From the official announcement:
Last week I mentioned that the Joomla 1.5 Release Candidate had arrived, officially taking Joomla 1.5 out of beta status. At Joomlashack we have been working hard pouring over the new 1.5 templating engine and are looking for community input for what templates you would like to see run on 1.5 natively.
Recently, we've begun (somewhat silently) adding QuickLaunch Template Installers to our products for public download. As of now, we have completed the installers for Vintage and Lightfast. This is a pretty cool idea which began with the Shack Packs, but these allow you to install the latest version of Joomla! and set up your demo content in just a few clicks. This will hopefully alleviate the common "Why doesn't my template look like the demo" confusion. If you own a Joomlashack template and want to make use of the QuickLaunch Installer, it won't be long before we have them all updated and ready. Hope you enjoy.
I just read a great article by Russ Weakley at Max Design titled "Web Standards Checklist". It is a checklist to help you evaluate your site for compliance with web standards. This is a great tool for any designer to help in the design of standards-compliant Joomla! templates. If you are not a designer, this is a great tool to help you evaluate potential templates for your website. The checklist is available in several languages.
If you've tried to install a Joomla! 1.0.x template on your Joomla! 1.5beta2 enabled website you'll know that legacy mode must be enabled before the template can be uploaded
"But how do I enable Legacy Mode in Joomla! 1.5beta2?" I hear you ask
If you use Joomla! and want to spice up your content pages a bit, I've uploaded some Joomla! graphics and button elements for free download. The PSD and PNG layered source files are included. Feel free to use them as you like. Enjoy!
Being the design junkie that I am, always looking for good links to CSS and design resources so I've compiled a list of some I've recently come across.
Often times in the forums when someone has a display problem with their template and I can't replicate it from my Mac, I usually ask them for a link or a screenshot of the problem. I must say I am very surprised at the number of users who are still operating in Windows XP with ClearType disabled.
If your fonts look ragged or almost pixellated, you may be able to make your eyeballs a lot happier by turning on ClearType.
I highly suggest you run this tool for tweaking your display preferences. There are alot of other resources out there as well.
