Last week the Joomla Project team released Joomla 1.5.12, codename "Wojmamni Ama Woi." No explanation for the Swahili meaning was given, but this version's various security and bug fixes are easily explained by checking out the project's 1.5.12 release.
The notes on Joomla.org points out that the version of the WYSIWYG editor TinyMCE received an important upgrade in this release, which reminded us to remind you that if you aren't using WYSIWYGPro, you're mising out on the best editor available for Joomla 1.5.
Nonetheless, be sure to do your updates early and often, as there are likely bad people out there trying to hack your Joomla site. You can also check out SecureJoomla, which will add another layer of protection on top of the great work by the Joomla Project guys.
The Joomla Project announced this week the release of Joomla 1.5.11, the latest version of our favorite CMS.
Listen to the project leaders when they say: "This is a security release and users are strongly encouraged to upgrade immediately."
Now, we here at Joomlashack always listen when the project tells us to upgrade for security. However, we also recognize that upgrading Joomla can be tricky.
Our friends at the CMS Association are back this spring with another spectacular conference for Joomlaheads and open source CMS fans generally- the second annual CMS Expo in Chicago!
Here's how they explain what CMS Expo Chicago is:
The CMS Association invites you to come for two high-energy days of training on top CMS solutions Joomla, Drupal and Alfresco. With over forty CMS learning sessions in six training tracks, CMS Expo has all you need to get up to speed on the latest content management techniques and trends.
We Vermont-based Shackers are pretty proud of our not-so-little local user group. Thanks to the leadership of Marlboro professor and Joomla developer Jen Kramer McKibben, the user group has really launched this past year. Its first-ever Joomla Day is totally filled up more than two months ahead of time. There must be some seriously pent-up demand for Joomla training and networking in our region!
On the agenda for Joomla Day New England:
- Beginning Templates
- Advanced Templates
- Black Belt Joomla!
- Open Source Matters
- Developing 1.5 Extensions
- Getting the most from Joomla!
Joomlashack's Barrie North will be presenting (see above) and hanging out. If you wanted to attend but didn't register in time, let the user group know and maybe they'll put you on a list for last-minute cancellations. Hope to see you there!
