Did you know that Flash is actually not valid XHTML?
Luckily, there is a work around and we've updated the Flash JPG Rotator Module to implemement just that. The Flash Rotator Module now uses FlashObject to validate. Also added, is the wmode=transparent option so now you can sylize your module with a class-suffix and add background images.
Back in December we asked the Joomlashack community to nominate their favorite charity for our contest. In eight days you sent us over 110 nominations from worthy organizations from around the world. After a fascinating, fun, and difficult evaluation process, Team Joomlashack picked these five charities as our finalists.
And the runaway winner of the contest were the children of Casa do Caminho Orphanage, with almost 50% of the vote.
We need your help to give a deserving charity $1000 USD
Ready to vote for one of our five finalists? *Sorry voting is now closed
Back in December we asked you to nominate your favorite charity for our "Charity Starts with a Joomla Home(page)" Contest.
Now it's time for you to vote for the charity you believe is most deserving of a donation of either a free website design or $1000USD. We wish all five could win, but now you, our community, will decide.
Alleida are doing a series of interviews on various people from the Joomla world. I was flattered that Steve asked if I would take a shot. I did and discussed some of my thoughts about Joomla template design and Joomla SEO. Here is an excerpt from the interview

The second Dutch Joomla! Days will be held on December 8th & 9th 2006, in Den Bosch, The Netherlands. Day one will focus on Joomla! in business. The second day will be the Joomla! Community day. Several key Joomla! community members will attend the conference - among them six core team members and a surprise guest.
Our own Barrie North will be at the event, presenting a brief outline of some of the new features of template design in 1.5. If you are in the area, drop by and say hi!
You may have noticed some new features here at the shack. We have gone bloggy!
As well as working on some information all about the Shack Team, each of us, Barrie, Casey, Waseem, Dean, Cory and TJ will be blogging about different things that interest them in the world wide Joomla web. We have added easy links to each blog in a menu on the left, along with the most recent blog posts.
We look forward to seeing you exploring the new blogs, as ever, our goal is to provide quality Joomla inofrmation and Services.

Greetings and Happy New Year to all!
This purpose of this letter is just to fill you in on some changes to come in 2006 and to recap our first year with the Joomla! community.
A lot of us have a new sense of freshness, especially since the Joomla/Mambo rebranding and Id like to personally thank the entire community for such a great success on the behalf of JoomlaShack. There are so many success stories I can't even begin to list them individually. Because of you, in just the past 3 months we were able to move our data do a dedicated server, create 8 free templates for the community, 20 variations of commercial templates and assorted modules as well as helping to launch over 60 Joomla powered sites, assist in the development of 3 community sites and donate over $1,000.00 in donations to victims of hurricane Katrina. Again, thank you! This would have never been possible without such a dedicated community and excellent camaraderie among other Joomla! developers..
