Has there ever been a time when non-profits needed our support more?
The world's many problems- dirty water, hungry children, oppressed people, forgotten animals- are often only solved by the dedicated volunteers and staff of our non-profits and NGOs. In a time of darkness, these organizations make the world brighter.

We released the results of our first survey last year and found some interesting things. We have been looking at some of the early data, and its been very interesting to be able to analyses trends now we have data over time.
A few weeks ago Team Joomlashack was together for a rare in-person gathering. (Our team is scattered across four states and three time zones, all in the U.S.) JoomlaEXPO in Chicago was a terrific day for any Joomlahead, but especially those new to our wild software scene.

In December we asked our Joomlashack community to vote for one of our five finalists in our annual Joomlashack Charity Contest, with the winner receiving a $1,000 USD cash prize. With only 10 days of voting, and during the major holiday season for many of our customers, we are impressed by both the impressive vote totals and comments posted by the voters.
It seems our winner, the MISS Foundation, did some effective outreach to involve their own members in voting. Their organizing paid off, as they ran away with the contest, taking over 58% of the vote!
The MISS Foundation certainly deserved the prize we sent them on December 31st, but we still would like everyone to check out the four other finalists, each an organization very worthy of your attention, support, and donations.
While the contest and 2007 are over, nothing's stopping you from checking them out now and giving your own charitable contribution. The children and communities these charities support still need your help, regardless of what year it is.
Thanks again to everyone who nominated, commented, voted, or promoted our 2007 charity contest. If you have an comments or suggestions for how we can make this effort even more effective next year, please let us know!
Happy New Year!
Season for Giving: Vote and Support these Five Charities
Last month we asked our Joomlashack community to nominate their favorite charity for a $1,000 USD cash prize. More than 90 excellent nominations poured in from around the globe, including NGOs solving problems on all seven continents and across an incredible range of issues. Each Joomlashacker carefully read every entry and then narrowed our list down to the five nominees below.
An appropriate trend seems to have emerged in a year when Team Joomlashack saw the births of two new babies and new hires whose families raised the collective Team Joomlashack honor roll to nine awesome kids. Here at Joomlashack, it's the year of the kid, and our picks for the five most deserving charities reflect this perfectly.
Please check out and then support each of these excellent and deserving organizations with an online contribution, and then vote for the charity that you think is most deserving of our $1,000 USD cash prize. Voting ends Sunday 12.30.2007 at 11:59PM EST.
May peace on Earth prevail for all men, women, and especially, for children.
